Themes of sensitivity and femininity are carried throughout most of my work. This painting is about navigating the world as a young woman who assigns so much weight and meaning to everything. It’s about reading too much into words and tones. It’s about feeling everyone’s glances and wanting to not be so visible all the time. It’s about deeply understanding the value of beauty and simultaneously wishing this all wasn’t such a performance.
